NIDC wins tender for drilling more wells in SP

TEHRAN -- The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) has won the tender for drilling three more oil wells in energy-rich South Pars Gas and Oil Field, the contract for which will soon be inked, Heidar Bahmani the managing director of the NIDC announced here on Sunday.

The drilling of the wells was awarded to the NIDC by the Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) at an international tender, Bahmani said, adding that the company is also responsible for providing technical and other necessary requirements.

“We have already started drilling of other 22 oil wells in the South Pars since a month ago and currently we are 30 percent ahead of the schedule,” he noted.

The NIDC, participating in an international tender in the presence of eight foreign countries won the contract for drilling four offshore wells.

The main contractor of the project is the Brazilian Petrobras. Based on the contract it has signed with the Iranian Oil Exploration Operations Company, the NIDC has been selected as the subcontractor for the project, Bahmani added.

The Iranian Oil Exploration Operations Company has also given through an international tender the drilling of four other exploration wells to the NIDC.
